About Jak-Japan Matsuri

A platform for cultural
exchange, since
2009.

First held in Jakarta as a collaboration between the Indonesian government, the Embassy of Japan, and the private sector, Jak-Japan Matsuri has grown into one of the largest cultural festivals in Southeast Asia.

Over 15 years, JJM has taken place in Jakarta every September — except during the 2020–2021 pandemic. In November 2020, Yayasan Jabat Hati Indonesia Jepang was officially registered with the Indonesian Ministry of Law and Human Rights as the parent organization ensuring the festival's continuity for years to come.
